Mass of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
Students, faculty, and staff gathered to celebrate a beautiful Mass to honor the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on Thursday, December 8, in the West Gym. In his homily, Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ, reminded Ramblers to make time this Christmas season to enjoy the many gifts from God.
"Be open to the gifts of God in your life," he said. "This means leaving room in your plans and making room for God to act. We are all called by God. You are called and you are chosen. God has a plan for you."
After the homily, members of Loyola's orchestra performed an instrumental setting of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" during the Offertory song. Following this, during Communion, Guadalupe Vazquez '23 and a small group of singers led our community in a traditional Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe song in Spanish. Both renditions contributed to the beauty of today's celebration.
